The front cover of Book Two is taken from the Potrait of Boy A.J. Archer. School number 19a, one of the first hundred entrants to the School. The potrait was painted by C.O. Croeber in 1913 and is displayed in the Central Hall. Alf Archer enlisted in the R.A.O.C. in 1915, was posted to Egypt and served for 5 years in the Corps. Recalled to the Corps in 1939, he served in Egypt, Palestine, and Italy. Retired as WO1 ( Staff Conductor ) before joining the Postal Service in London. He died in 1987. Archer was one of two Brothers at the School, the other being G.W. Archer School number 20. He left the School in 1915 and on reaching call up age enlisted in the 7th Battalion Black Watch, serving in France. :Promoted to Corporal. He was killed in action at Cambrai. November 1917
